There are many
books on the market about how to interpret your dreams, some
good, some not so good. Yet, most offer a degree of help.
Still, the best person to interpret your dreams is you.
Yet most people live in ignorance of this gift. Many
have no idea that dreams have meaning. Most people dismiss
dreams as a kind of made up mental gymnastic act that
creates images in a random unrelated order. They laugh at
them or dismiss them because their relation to dreams is
literal. They do not see dreams as a communication using a
series of symbols to tell them something.
The power of the dream is honesty. You can trust
your dreams to speak the truth you long for; whereas, in the
waking state, we often operate under the influence of fear,
hiding from ourselves as well as others. The dream state
does not have this restriction.
Dreams are neither right nor wrong, they do not
concoct a story, they are simply truthful. Dreams then can
be, if we allow, our best friend.
Many people envision themselves as victims;
subject to the whims of chance. If they would allow
themselves to become involved with their dreams and trust
the guidance offered through dream interpretation, they
could begin to see themselves as non-victims. They could
begin to create real happiness and
health, rather than just castles in
the air and your will no logner be controlled by fear.
In
your dreams you have an ally and dedicated friend, no matter
what happens in life. You can come to realize your dreams
are your friend. Just imagine having a friend that is
committed 100 percent and that this commitment is constant.
The goal of your dreams is clarity; the clarity you
gain of the universe and whom you are as a child of the
Universe. Your dreams teach you the Laws that govern
everything in the universe. They also help you understand
your
purpose in life.
Dreams are invaluable. They are tools of salvation,
liberation and peace. But before we can use them for
direction to our Spiritual fulfillment we need to learn the
language of dreams.
Symbology, or dream language, and dream
interpretation is a highly effective form of communication.
As Jesus spoke in parables, our dreams speak in symbology.
Jesus knew that he could get his ideas and concepts across
to people better by using parables. The subconscious and
spirit, know that the best way to achieve inner
communication is with symbology.
When we dream it serves us best if we can always
remember that everything in our dream is a symbol. (The
exception is in precognitive dreams, yet these are not as
common and tend to rarely happen.) In dream interpretation
you can realize whether each object is to be taken literally
or non-literally, it is almost always a symbol. A car is
not just a car. It can represent power, or a tool for
direction, or sexual expression, or a myriad of different
things. Hardly ever is a car just a car.
So if a car is not a car, and it can be anything, how
do we find out what it is? We find out by looking at what
is going on in our lives, what fears do we have; as well as
what is controlling us in order to properly interpret a
dream? You ask How do I feel toward myself and others? And
guessing as best we can as to what the car symbol reminds us
of.
All this is being dealt with in our dreams using the
language of symbols. Here is an example of dream
interpretation. For instance; a person dreams of his/her
mother or father driving their very fast and powerful sports
car. This person probably has issues with not having power
over their life, that some external force has their power,
not them.
Patience and persistence are key words for dream work
and its meaning. As with learning any new language, you can
begin to understand immediately but literacy takes time.
Also working in a compassionate and private group that
helps each other decipher their dreams can be most helpful
in self-dream-interpretation, keeping in mind always that
the best person to interpret your dreams is you.
Interpreting and deciphering your dreams is the first
part of dream "work." The second part has to do with
applying the dream message to your life. This is where the
gift of the dream has meaning. Understanding what is being
said to you has no meaning unless it is put into practice.
